Preparing for upcoming bouts, Super Flyweight Shelly Barnett (2-0) of Evanston, IL by way of Toronto, Ontario Canada, is deep into preparations unlike a typical young (in experience) boxer.

In camp for her first coming matchup, also her first 6-Rounder in Milwaukee, #WomenofBoxing caught up with Barnett in Northwest Chicago Suburb of Crystal Lake for some sparring with UFC superstar and Strawweight championship challenger Felice Herrig.

Felice Herrig (on Shelly’s sparring on Wednesday, January 24th): “She was mean! Especially when she goes to the body, she gets real mean and aggressive!”

“Machine Gun” Shelly made her debut in nearby Hammond, IN in May of 2017, a shutout decision win.

In November, Barnett went home to Toronto to make her successful homecoming by earning another shutout decision over Bolivian Mariela Ribera Valverde (then 4-4, 3 KOs.

Now, it is back to work for February 10th and April 20th.
